Susan Lucci, an American actress who is best known for her role as Erica Kane on the ABC soap opera All My Children, is mourning the loss of her beloved husband, Helmut Huber. Huber, an Austrian-born businessman, passed away at the age of 93.
The couple, who had been married for over 50 years, had a special bond that was evident to all who knew them. Lucci and Huber had been together since high school and had two children, Andreas and Liza.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Helmut Huber,” Lucci said in a statement. “Helmut was my beloved husband for 50 years, and the love of my life. He was a wonderful father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.”
Huber was a successful businessman, who owned a number of businesses in the US and Austria. He also was a dedicated philanthropist, who was passionate about giving back to his community.

Susan Lucci is an American actress, television host, author, and entrepreneur best known for her role as Erica Kane on the long-running ABC soap opera All My Children. She is one of the most recognizable and successful soap opera actresses in the world and has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series a record 21 times, winning the award in 1999.
Lucci was born in Scarsdale, New York, the daughter of Jeanette and Victor Lucci, an engineer. She attended Garden City High School, and graduated in 1964. After graduation, she attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, where she studied to become a teacher. She later attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Lucci made her television debut in 1971, playing the role of Nurse Colleen on the CBS daytime drama Love of Life. In 1975, she won the role of Erica Kane on All My Children, a role she would play for the next 41 years. During her time with the show, she became one of the most popular actresses on daytime television and earned a reputation as a “soap opera queen.” Her performance earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series every year from 1978 to 2001. In 1999, she won the award after 21 consecutive nominations.
In addition to her work on All My Children, Lucci has appeared on numerous television shows and films. She hosted a game show called I’d Like to See and has appeared as a guest.
Lucci was only 18 in 1965 when she first met Huber at New York’s Garden City Hotel. The future actress, who had just finished her college freshman year at Marymount College, was working there as a waitress, and Huber was the hotel’s executive chef and head of food and beverage service.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle in 2019, Lucci confessed how she asked a friend that summer who Huber was when she spotted him at the establishment. The friend informed her that the man she was asking about was her boss!
It wasn’t until two years later that the two started dating, and they married in 1969. Lucci and Huber were together for 50 years until his death in 2019.
